How we work & FAQs
The answers, before you have to ask.
A new kitchen is a considered decision, and most people have the same questions before they commit. Here's how a Coeur project runs from first sketch to finished kitchen — and honest answers to what clients ask most.
Step by step
From first sketch to finished kitchen.
01
Showroom chat or home visit
Start with a relaxed conversation — pop into the Godalming showroom to see cabinetry and finishes in the flesh, or have Sam come to you. He wants to understand how you use the room, what frustrates you about it now, and the look you have in your head.
02
A design & a clear, itemised quote
Sam designs the kitchen around your space, your vision and his own experience — then presents it with a detailed plan and fully itemised costings. As clients note again and again, the quote is competitive and there are no surprises hidden in it.
03
Project-managed from start to finish
Once you're happy, Sam's own skilled team takes over — cabinetry, worktops, electrics and plumbing coordinated so it runs to the dates you were given from the outset. Installed cleanly, snagged properly, and left as a kitchen you're proud of.
Common questions
Frequently asked.
Do you design and fit, or just supply the kitchen?
+
Both — and it's all under one roof. Sam designs your kitchen himself, the studio supplies the cabinetry and worktops, and Sam's own skilled team installs it, coordinating the electrics, plumbing and worktops as part of the job. You deal with one studio from the first sketch to the final handle, rather than being passed between a designer, a supplier and a fitter.
Can I see the kitchens before I commit?
+
Yes — we have a physical showroom on Market Mews, Great George Street in Godalming, open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. It's the best place to see cabinetry, door styles, worktops and finishes in the flesh and get a feel for the quality. Prefer to start at home? Sam is happy to arrange a home visit instead.
How does getting a quote work?
+
It starts with a conversation — in the showroom or at your home — about how you use the kitchen and what you're after. Sam then designs the kitchen and presents it with detailed plans and fully itemised costings, so you can see exactly what's included before you decide. Clients tell us the same thing again and again: the quote is competitive, and there are no surprises buried in it.
Will it cost more than a big chain because you're independent?
+
That's the assumption a lot of people start with — and it's usually the opposite. Being a small, family-run studio keeps our overheads down, and clients who got quotes from the larger chains have told us Coeur's came in very competitive for a genuinely bespoke, project-managed kitchen. You get a local designer with 20 years' experience, not a call centre and a premium.
How long does a kitchen take to install?
+
It depends on the size of the kitchen and whether there's building or knocking-through involved, but Sam gives you dates at the outset and the job is project-managed to hit them. What clients mention most is that it runs on schedule — installed on the date they were given from the start, with no delays, and the trades sequenced so it doesn't drag.
Who actually fits the kitchen?
+
Sam's own skilled team — the same professional, hardworking fitters clients name in their reviews, not a rotating crew of subcontractors. Sam project-manages them from first day to sign-off, and brings in the worktop and other specialists he's worked with for years, so every trade is coordinated rather than left for you to chase.
What if something comes up during the project?
+
On any real kitchen project the occasional thing crops up — that's normal. The difference is how it's dealt with: clients describe Sam handling issues creatively and efficiently, communicating clearly and replying quickly, so a hiccup gets solved rather than turning into a saga. It's a big part of why people say they couldn't recommend Coeur more.
Which areas do you cover?
+
We're based in Godalming and design and fit kitchens across Godalming, Guildford, Farncombe, Milford, Haslemere, Cranleigh and the surrounding Surrey Hills villages. If you're just outside that, ask anyway — Sam is happy to arrange a home visit and let you know if it's a fit.
Question not answered here?
Just ask Sam — there's no such thing as a daft kitchen question, and he'd rather talk it through properly before anyone commits to anything.
